New Mascots Heat Up the Competition at WorldWinner
Speedbump and Detour Personify Fun, Competitive Spirit That Fuels WorldWinner Players
Newton, Mass. - April 13, 2005 - WorldWinner, Inc. (www.worldwinner.com), the leader in online game competitions, today unveiled new mascots, Speedbump and Detour. The names selected for the fun-loving tortoise and abundantly competitive hare were chosen by WorldWinner's players, who voted for their favorites on the WorldWinner site during the week of April 4.
WorldWinner's site is driven by competition, so the company chose two mascots that embody friendly rivalry. Like the legendary characters from Aesop's fable, Speedbump and Detour demonstrate that despite an individual's personality type, competition is an intrinsic behavior in everyone.
"Our mascots create brand recognition by serving as a visual reminder of what the WorldWinner experience is about: a blend of pure entertainment and friendly competition," said Peter Blacklow, chief marketing officer of WorldWinner. "Speedbump and Detour create a bond with our players, and will help establish a recognized icon for consumers as we further elevate the WorldWinner brand."
Created by Allan Downing, designer of Monster.com's renowned Trumpasaurus mascot, Speedbump and Detour are currently featured throughout the WorldWinner site, including on card backs in WorldWinner card games and as avatars players can select as part of their online profile. WorldWinner also plans to introduce branded merchandise, including playing cards and apparel, which will be redeemable through the WorldWinner Rewards Points loyalty program and available for purchase from WorldWinner's online store, which will be launched in Q2 2005.
Since its launch in 2000, WorldWinner has grown to include 14 million registered members and hosts approximately four million game tournaments per month.
